Today students will need to order a list of numbers in math, as well as rewrite the number in expanded form using only tens and ones.
In reading, students are expected to read for 20 minutes, and may choose to write a summary or explain the gist of what happened in their reading for this evening.
Tonight after their 20 minutes of reading, students are expected to choose a sentence from their book, and rewrite it in their own words.
Round to the nearest ten: 14; 76; 138
Round to the nearest hundred: 589; 1,099; 4,950
Tonight after their 20 minutes of reading, students are describe a theme or main idea from their chosen text, and tell how they know using specific details from the text. 4th graders are expected to write in complete sentences, and use proper punctuation.
Make a place value drawing for 3,524. Rewrite this number using expanded notation.
Students need to read a CHOICE book for at least 20 minutes, then write at least 4 sentences explaining the "gist" of the text.

Pages Read: 1-5
Prompt: What is the gist of the text?
The gist of the text is that a boy name Jack doesn't want to write any poetry. He says that he thinks poetry is only for girls. He tries to write poetry, but he says he can't and that his brain was empty. He also shares that he didn't understand the poem about the wheelbarrow. He wrote a poem, and didn't like it. He didn't want his teacher to read it out loud, or post it on the wall.
Write the greatest number possible using 3, 6, 1 and 4. Make a place-value drawing for your number.
In your place value drawing use rectangles to represent thousands, squares to represent hundreds, lines to represent tens, and circles to represent ones.
